      Anteroom

      A small transitional room between the entrance and the tatami room. Set down your bags, take off your shoes, and let the rhythm of the house begin.

      DINING KITCHEN

      Dining Kitchen

      A spacious kitchen-dining room made for gathering. Cookware and tableware are provided for everyone. Open the fusuma screens to connect it with the tatami room, bringing all ten guests around the same table.

      TATAMI ROOM

      Tatami Room

      Stretch out on the tatami. This central room, complete with a tokonoma alcove, can open onto the dining kitchen or close off as a quiet bedroom. Lay out the futons when the whole group stays.

      ENGAWA

      Engawa

      A sunroom-like veranda facing the garden. Warm with light, it is the kind of place where you linger. Read a book or simply do nothing.

      Reception Room

      A quiet room slightly apart from the main house. Ideal for a meeting or time alone, it sits at the far end overlooking the courtyard.

      Wash away a day of climbing Onomichi's hills in the bath.

      Toilet

      A separate vanity and changing area, hand-wash basin, and toilet. The water facilities are arranged separately so larger groups can get ready with ease.

      Bedroom

      A bedroom with beds. Beyond the window lies the Onomichi Channel. This is where the morning light wakes you first.

      Second-floor Engawa

      From the second-floor engawa, the sea below the hill feels even closer. The view stretches all the way to the Shimanami Kaido. The finest amenity in this house may simply be the view.

      Second-floor Tatami Room

      A tatami room adjoining the bedroom. Lay out futons for a larger group, or gather here before turning in for the night.

      Second-floor Toilet

      There is a separate toilet upstairs as well. Close to the bedrooms, it is convenient at night.

      WESTERN ROOM

      Western-style Room

      Beyond the connecting corridor, this is the house's only Western-style room among its many tatami spaces. Use it as an extra bedroom, or bring in a desk and make it your workspace.

      A separate shower booth is also available upstairs.

BEDDING

Sleeps up to 10.

There are two single beds. For everyone else, take the futons from the closet and lay them wherever you like. There are eight sets in all. Line them up like a school trip, or spread out across different rooms—the freedom of having the whole house.
