Once, this was a painter’s home.

Sow. was once a house where a painter lived and worked.

The main house and atelier were once connected by a single corridor, now closed for safety. From the space of daily life to the space of work.
Each morning, the painter crossed this corridor to pick up a brush, and at dusk crossed back to the dining table.
Here, living and making were part of the same continuum.

Traces of paint still remain on the corridor handrail. We chose not to erase them.

We wanted to preserve this quiet proof that the house once belonged to a maker, and pass it on to whoever comes next.

Onomichi has long drawn people who create.

Fumiko Hayashi spent her girlhood here,
and Naoya Shiga wrote from a rented house on the hillside.

Years later,
filmmaker Nobuhiko Obayashi returned to the landscapes of his hometown
to shoot many of his films.
